It’s hard to believe it’s just two weeks away! On September 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. we’ll have our first worship service at our new West End Campus. Below you’ll find all of the info that you will need to have a great experience.
I haven’t been to church in a long time. Will I be welcome? Absolutely! At New Story, everyone is welcome. EVERYONE! No matter who you are. No matter what you’ve done. Our church is made up of tons of people ranging from those who have never been to church, to those who have been out of church for a long time, or those who have become disillusioned with the traditional church and its inward focus. We believe that everyone deserves a New Story.
What will the worship experience be like? In a word – AWESOME! At New Story, we believe in uplifting worship that prepares you for the week ahead. Our cool praise band sings all kinds of music (contemporary, traditional with a new flair, etc.). We believe our Sunday morning worship should be something that you look forward to – where you’re hanging out with friends, learning, and finding guidance for all the challenges that life can throw at us. We think worship should be informal and fun. Who wants to go to church and be bored to death or told how horrible they are? Not us! Our messages focus on applying spirituality in our daily lives and looking for the Holy in the ordinary. The services last an hour, so you’ll be able to beat everyone else to the cafeteria!
Will you have programs for children and youth? We have fun, safe, and exciting children’s and youth programs. They’re Gucci (that’s us trying to be cool). We have programs for children birth through Pre-K. Our kids from Kindergarten through 8th grade will have their own worship service and small group time in the auditorium building (it’s a great building and we’ve made it awesome for the kids). Our high school students will be in our main worship service in the chapel and those who are interested in helping with the service will have the opportunity to serve, as we believe students should get lots of opportunities to learn leadership. We’ll have regular youth programs for students 6th-12th grade and we will meet for our kick-off event right after worship on September 11 for 30 minutes.
What should I wear? We don’t care what you wear. We just ask that you wear something. T-shirts and shorts, or suits or dresses. If you’re comfortable, we’re comfortable.
What time does it start/where do I park? Worship starts at 10:30, but come early for some great coffee and conversations. Also, if you have children, please plan to come early to get them checked in to our children’s programs. We’ll have people at the main entrance of The Children’s Home property that will direct you and show you exactly where to park. We’ll also have people around the campus to make sure you get to the right place. The address is 1001 Reynolda Rd, Winston Salem, NC 27104.
I want to make a real difference in my community … Does New Story? Reaching out and helping others is at the core of who we are. At our other campuses we run a homeless shelter, feed hundreds of hungry people each week, have a recovery house, a clothes closet, and more. We spend over half (!) our budget on reaching out to the community. In fact, we’ll pack meals for the hungry right after the very first week of worship at West End and we’d love for you to help us!
Why is New Story starting another campus? You already have two. The short answer – we believe that God is leading us to do it. The longer answer – when The Children’s Home approached us about starting a New Story campus on their campus, we prayed like crazy. At New Story we have lots of experience reaching out to those in need and we believe that we can make a real difference in the lives of the kids at The Children’s Home and in the communities around it. We think the chapel at The Children’s Home will be a great place to combine the traditional and the contemporary, and the children’s and youth space is INCREDIBLE!
