Go ahead, take a guess. What do you think is the first question that almost everyone asks me when they ask about New Story Church. Yep, you guessed it. How many people do you have coming on Sunday?
Really? Of all the cool questions that someone could ask, that’s the one? Actually, we have more people than we ever imagined at this point, but that’s not the point. The point is, church isn’t about numbers. It’s about faith. I wish people would ask me “Was it easy to feel God’s presence when you worshipped on Sunday?” (totally), or “Did you all have non-Christians at your service?” (yes), or “Did you reach out and help the least, the last, and the lost this week?” (you betcha), or even, “Have you become unstoppable in the name of Jesus?” (without a doubt). I think these are the questions Jesus would be interested in way more than what our worship attendance was or how high our offering was.
I’m confident that at New Story Church we’ll never have to worry about numbers. God is already bringing us lots of people, and we’re not even in a building yet. Our numbers will be great, but I promise you that we will never focus on them. We’ll always focus on reaching out to those who have never been to church, who have been hurt by church, or who have a superficial relationship with church. We’ll do all we can to transform our community and help the least, the last, and the lost. We’ll feed the hungry, give shelter to the homeless, and teach kids about Jesus and his love for them. You can count on it.
If you’re looking to be a part of something different, for a New Story, for a chance to make a difference, come worship with us. We’d love to have you.
