It’s so easy to do. Someone makes us mad and we respond with anger before we’ve even had a chance to think about what we’re doing. We hit “send” on an e-mail and then wish we could take it back, or scream at someone in anger and then try to reach out and grab the words as they float through the air.
And that’s when the pain starts. Pain for them, pain for us, and smiles for Old Mr. Evil. It doesn’t have to be this way. The next time the Prince of Pain whispers to you about getting revenge, causing hurt, or evening the score, ask God to send you a “gentle” reminder. A reminder that grace, forgiveness, and love are the better way. And then turn to Satan and tell him to eat it.
