Hands On at the Prodigal House

What is the word for “I’m so proud of our church people because they’re so awesome and fun and faithful and love helping other people”? Well, whatever that word is, that’s how I feel about New Story. Last night 31(!) New Story people went to the Prodigal House (a long term, faith based rehab center for men) and served dinner and worshipped with them.

It was great to watch how well everyone worked together and enjoyed each other. Some got the food, others cooked it, still others set it up, and even more people served. We interacted with the men and staff of Prodigal House and heard their stories and were reminded of a great truth…serving others is wonderful and powerful. In fact, we received more from the men at Prodigal than they ever received from us.

Below are just a few of the pictures we took last night. We’ll put all of them up soon on our Facebook page. If you’re looking for a church that doesn’t just talk about helping make a difference, but gets their hands dirty doing it, we hope you’ll come join with us as we give our community a New Story.

We’re New Story Church, and we believe in living out Jesus’ call to love our neighbor as ourselves.
