New Story Church has always believed that we are our most faithful when we are helping those in need. A huge part of our outreach ministries are to the homeless, and we minister to them throughout the year. From the beginning of New Story Church we have been a place where people with no place to lay their head at night could come for a safe place to stay, a warm meal, and to be surrounded by people who care about them.
Throughout the year we pack meals to give out to those who live on the streets. These bag meals are available at all of our campuses. We have distributed over 30,000 meals throughout our city.
Our Peter’s Creek clothes closet has given away tens of thousands of pieces of clothing. We now have a clothes closet at our Waughtown campus to better serve that community.
From Dec. 15 to March 16 we run an overflow shelter at our Peter’s Creek Campus. Each night we have up to 20 guests who spend the night. We are currently the only overflow shelter that is able to take in families. Each night we feed our guests a warm dinner, and in the morning we feed them breakfast and give them a bag lunch to take with them. When we are able, we provide basic medical care to our overnight guests. We also help them transition from homelessness to permanent housing. So far we have been blessed to get close to 100 people into permanent housing.
To run ministry like this we need lots of volunteers. If you’d like more info about how you can be a part of this life changing ministry, please click the link below.
